You may well know of the Pentacle, the five-pointed star in a circle. It is a symbol shrouded in the mists of time itself and associated with Jesus Christ himself and Mary Magdalene his wife who had to flee to France after the crucifixion. You may see it in everyday life in the spoke arrangement of car wheels, the badges of law enforcement agencies such as the Texas Rangers, in the leaf and seed arrangements of flowers and fruits. If you cut an apple across the middle you will see that the seeds make a perfect pentacle. There are many superstitions about the pentacle, most of them erroneous.

The pentacle represents the responsibilities of man. The circle within which the star is contained represents the world in which we live and it should be obvious to any reasoning person that our responsibility to it is of the utmost importance for the most practical of reasons. As you view the pentacle from the top down as the wearer you will notice that it hangs from the topmost point which represents the wearer. If you do not take care of yourself then who can you take care of. This is not selfishness as some may think but a practical reality. The second point is the one on the left as you look down from the top, representing the parents of the wearer, the place where we came from. They took care of us when we could not so it is only right and proper that we look after them in their times of need. The point opposite the second represents your children or in other words your everlasting life. Again it is a representation of genetic information going into the future. The third is the lower right hand point representing the spouse or partner in life, the person who makes the going easier. Kick this leg from under you and you fall. The lower left hand or fifth point represents your duty to your fellow man without which you would find it absolutely impossible to survive.

The hole in the centre of the pentacle represents the spirit of the person and the man. Do not forget the needs of the spirit lest it wither and die. Here are listed the seven points of the pentacle and the seven responsibilities of man. Reflect on them every day and be aware of your responsibilities both to yourself and your fellow man.

Perhaps the pentacle does protect against evil as some say it does. Perhaps it’s believed goodness or otherwise depends on the motivation of the wearer. Such is the duality of many things in life. There are two sides to every coin and the pentacle represents a coin, a very ancient one indeed. In the south of France is a circle of five hills with a hill in the middle. They can now be seen by satellite from space thus fulfilling the prophecy that the sign of the Son of Man would be seen from the heavens. No one would accept it until recently, however the hills are there for all to see. It was from a misinterpretation of this prophecy that the strange symbols of the Nazca plains in South America were created. In those times men considered themselves to be Sons of Man so they tried to fulfil the prophecy by creating signs which would be seen from the heavens.

If you place a pentacle with the centre over the hill in the middle, the other five hills are located exactly on each point of the star.

There have been some good books written on this subject recently and we are surprised at how close they have come to the real truth. We, the Caulbearers of the Old Order, keep the knowledge alive and hand it down from generation to generation. We cannot tell anyone as most people could not bear that their belief systems could be so incorrect. We doubt if they will ever be able to accept it. However in view of the fact that the time is now upon us it is our hope that enough people will see reason to avert the results of their blindness before it is too late.
